Northern Aid (NAID) is a locally incorporated non-profit, non-religious, and non-political NGO working in Northern Kenya. Founded in 1995, NAID has been at forefront of efforts aimed at mobilizing resources and political goodwill to support initiatives that will not only address but reverse the problems which afflict the marginalized communities of Northern Kenya. With a successful grassroots work in Northern Kenya, NAID engages its beneficiaries on a well formulated rights based and pro poor approaches besides managing other key projects in emergencies, livelihood, HIV & AIDS, Governance, water and sanitation. Northern Aid strives to link relief efforts to long-term Development plans.

To articulate, protect and as well as promoting the cause of minority and the marginalized pastoralists group in a discrimination free environment for the people and their livelihood.
The greenhouse activity implemented in Garse salla area was aimed at improving community based agricultural practices. This was also to strengthen agricultural production and increasing food availability for HH consumption.
The project is implemented in Kutulo division which is situated 33km off Elwak district. The project area is characterised as having fertile soil and can hold agricultural practises with a significant harvest should rainfall be continuous in abundance. The area receives 200-250mm of rainfall but very prone to drought and can only handle pastoralism at a large farming.

Writing in 1950 American author Negley Farson the wrote chapter in on his book Northern Last chance Frontier in District Africa ,
(now Upper Eastern and North Eastern Province) “There is one half of Kenya about which the other half knows nothing about and seems to even care less." This narrative has remained so for the past 62 years – but seems to be changing fast now. Kenyans are suddenly beginning to 'know' Northern Kenya, as the region has been in the news recently for all the right and wrong reasons in equal measure. Clashes in Isiolo and Marsabit counties of Upper Eastern have dominated the media.
